Andrea Wins Berklee Exemplary Faculty Award

Berklee has presented Andrea with the Exemplary Faculty Award! The award recognizes a Berklee Online faculty member who exemplifies Berklee’s commitment to educational excellence and student experience.

Meet Andrea Stolpe

Andrea Stolpe is a renowned creative consultant whose methodology for songwriters and music artists has been taught worldwide.

“In my experience, songwriters don’t need more ‘secrets’ to writing hit songs. What we need is a supportive and prolific group of collaborators in which to hone our craft, with access to the areas of the industry that need the best of what we create.”

A writer with 20+ years experience in the music industry, Andrea has penned songs for such artists as Faith Hill, Julianne Hough, and Jimmy Wayne and has worked at companies including Universal Music Publishing, EMI, and Almo-Irving.

Andrea is the author of Popular Lyric Writing: 10 Steps to Effective Storytelling, a staple text for songwriting programs at Belmont University in Nashville, Berklee College of Music, and University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

Her online courses and video series have garnered Music Educator’s Grammy Nominations, and the prestigious Gold Telly Award for non-broadcast education videos.

Andrea began her staff-writing career in Nashville in 1998. With a classical piano background and a bachelor of music from Berklee College of Music, she spent a decade honing her songwriting and collaboration skills, working as a demo singer, and preparing for a solo release of her own in 2006.

While in Nashville, Andrea began teaching courses for Berklee College of Music’s online program. She later authored “Commercial Songwriting Techniques,” a lyric and music-writing 12-week course, part of the undergraduate songwriting degree. In 2007, Andrea accepted an invitation to help design and establish the songwriting courses of the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Andrea continues to speak out for songwriters and the craft at music conferences nationally and abroad. “Writer to Writer” is a retreat exclusive to songwriters looking for a progressive approach to furthering their craft and career interests.
