About Andrea

Andrea is a songwriter, speaker, and author with over 20 years of experience in the music industry, penning songs for such artists as Faith Hill, Jimmy Wayne, and Julianne Hough.

She has worked with Universal Music Publishing, EMI, and Almo-Irving, and authored Popular Lyric Writing: 10 Steps to Effective Storytelling, a staple text for songwriting programs at Belmont University in Nashville and Berklee College of Music.

Andrea helped establish the songwriting courses at USC Thornton School of Music, and her educational work has earned Grammy nominations and a Gold Telly Award. She continues to mentor songwriters through retreats and speaking engagements in the US and abroad.

  • "The mentorship program with Andrea has truly lifted my songwriting to a level I never thought possible. I’m still in the program and can’t see leaving anytime soon. It’s just that beneficial."

    Victoria Sharrar

  • "The feedback you will receive in the program is not just a one-time critique of your song(s); it is an ongoing, living, breathing conversation about each and every song. It is clear Andrea is a devoted, articulate, experienced, and fair mentor who has the ability to pin point what song writing areas need attention as well as the ability to inspire with encouragement."

    Smudgie

  • "Andrea has a true gift. She is able to critique in a way that gets you inspired to be better. Her honesty, helpful comments and suggestions allowed me to see the bigger picture. I am grateful for her ability to gently push me outside my boundaries."

    Candy Foran

  • "My goal was to give myself the nudge I needed to write every day and always have songs on the go. Having Andrea there every day to give me feedback, suggestions and encouragement on songs has transformed how much I write and how much more fun and doable it is. I don’t procrastinate as much or criticize my stuff like I used to. I have more tools and ideas and motivation to keep moving forward."

    Lowry Olafson

  • "If you are considering this mentorship as a way to becoming the songwriter you want to be, consider no more. Just DO IT! Invest in yourself because Andrea will invest her time into you... Not only did my songs go through this incredible transformation, my soul did as well, and I am eternally grateful."

    Donna Andreeff

  • "Andrea's new Mentorship program goes way beyond the usual online songwriting course or workshop in providing one-on-one attention to the details of lyric writing, song structure, rhythm, harmony and melody. Andrea provides meaningful feedback with grace and kindness while always keeping you motivated to reach the next level of your writing skills."

    Michael Costelloe

  • "Andrea understands the song I mean to be writing, and has immediate, practical suggestions for how to change notes, words, chords, rhythms to get closer. I love having time to go incorporate her ideas, and then come back for more."

    Nancy Cunningham

Life Changing

Andrea's approach to songwriting is unlike anything I have ever encountered before, and yet it is exactly what I've always needed. She isn't there to impress her ideas onto your projects. She's there to help you untangle obstacles with practical exercises. Her feedback is the most constructive I've ever received, and she improved my writing process in ways I never imagined. I highly recommend her mentorship. I'm not exaggerating when I say it changed my life.

Five star review - Andrea Stolpe Songwriting

Andrea’s the best… boom, mic drop!

I didn't know what to expect from a months long mentorship program that involved daily contact with Andrea. I had taken another of Andrea's courses, and it was incredible, but this seemed like a very different kind of thing, and I had a feeling it could be a life changing experience. I was right on both counts. Andrea's teaching style should be adopted by all teachers at all levels of education. She knows how to give guidance that feels like you're sitting on a soft white cloud. It's gentle, and it's also detailed, to the point, and spot on. She knows her stuff, and she spends real time listening to your songs. Sometimes she takes a day or two to think about the song before she gives the feedback. I've taken a lot of songwriting courses over the years, but this mentorship took everything to a whole different level. The songs I wrote while working with Andrea in this program are the best I've ever written. So, I'm going to do the program again next January for another six months. Andrea is awesome. :)
